Understanding Kinesiology by Ben Calder, KTRP
Origins and Terms
The origins of kinesiology (kin-easy-ology) date back to the 1930s when the testing of muscles was medically developed for the assessment of muscle tone and strength. The findings were used for the development of rehabilitation programmes for people with weak or damaged muscles. The term kinesiology means ‘muscle monitoring’.
In the 1960s a chiropractor named George Goodheart began the development of what we now refer to as Bio-energetic Kinesiology, with the creation of his system, Applied Kinesiology.
Bio-energetic Kinesiology, a term proposed by Dr Jimmy Scott, founder of Health Kinesiology, differs from kinesiology which is used in a medical setting. Bio-energetic kinesiology monitors information that is not just about the physical body, but includes all the interrelating subtle bio-energy systems in the body. The most common of these is the Chinese meridian system, but also the chakras, subtle energy bodies, rays, kundalini energies and, since Juliet and Jiva Carter’s discovery, The Template bio-energy circuits.
The basic premise behind this monitoring, as noted by Goodheart, is that loss of muscle tone or weakness in the muscles has a direct relationship to weakness or loss of tone in one or several of the subtle bio-energy systems. This theory is supported by modern physics which demonstrate the interconnection between all physical and non physical systems, each influencing the other. The loss of tone or weakness in any system in the body is attributed to a blocked or restricted flow of bio-energy in one or several of these systems. We can liken this to standing on a hose pipe: either very little or no water will come out and the build up of pressure in the pipe can cause other problems, right up until the hose blows off the tap.
The purpose of bio-energetic kinesiology is to restore the normal flow of energy and to re-establish as balanced an energy flow as possible in the face of any factors that may stress or weaken this system. Over the last 45 years many successful techniques have been developed to strengthen and improve the flow of bio-energy through the various systems of the body, thereby enhancing the health and wellbeing of the person being strengthened.
The Testing Procedure
Performing a muscle test is a simple and gentle procedure involving no magic or mystery. It is a skill that can be developed by anyone who has the time and patience to practice becoming proficient with it.
A chosen muscle is placed in a position that reflects and isolates its own movement. The Middle Deltoid for example, which lifts the arm up from the side of the body at 90 degrees, would be held in this position to be tested. The muscle needs to be at a point of significant contraction so as to read the body’s ability to maintain that contraction in the face of the test. Light pressure would then be applied just above the wrist on the lifted arm to try and push it down to the side of the body, in the muscle’s most extended position. A positive, locked response would result in the muscle remaining still in the face of the gentle pressure. A negative or unlocked response would result in the muscle moving and relaxing down to its extended position. This should neither be strenuous or uncomfortable for either the tested or the tester as only gentle pressure is needed to gauge the muscle response. A tested working muscle can be used as an indicator muscle to monitor the body’s stress responses.
Most systems of kinesiology are monitoring the muscle in a digital fashion. The muscle is either read as being switched on, active, locked or strong, or it is read as being switched off, inactive, relaxed or weak. This gives us a very basic positive or negative, useful or un-useful, avoid or include, yes-or-no type response. An example of this might be with a food that is suspected as triggering an allergic or intolerance reaction. When the food is tested correctly, the body might give a locked and strong indicator muscle response to a test, indicating the food as having no detrimental effect on the body. Alternatively it might test relaxed or weak, suggesting the food is weakening or detrimentally affecting the individual concerned. This might also be the case if the food was replaced with a chemical, drug, a thought or limiting belief, a colour or sound, body position or movement, all of which could be tested to see if they are having a weakening effect on the individual’s bio-energy or a positive and strengthening effect.
Types of Testing
There are two main types of testing within the varied world of Kinesiology and most Kinesiologists use a mixture of both. The first type developed is what is known as Touch Localising. This is where a specific point or body part will be touched and the indicator muscle tested to monitor the feedback response from the body. For example, if you touch a painful joint with one hand and then test a working indicator muscle elsewhere on the body, it will most likely test relaxed or weak, confirming the weakness in the physical system. More commonly, Kinesiologists are testing points which give information about the subtle energy systems in the body. In Health Kinesiology we test a series of points around the navel to indicate the energy status of the 14 major meridians. As we lightly touch these points we simultaneously test a working indicator muscle: if the muscle relaxes or switches off, this tells us that the meridian pair that the point represents, is in a state of ‘over-energy’. This state is undesirable as it implies that other areas will be in ‘under-energy’ because the normal flow of bio-energy is not balanced. Assessment through muscle testing will then tell us how to rebalance the meridians in ‘over-energy’. This will be confirmed by further testing following a balancing procedure.
The second method of testing is through the use of verbal questioning. In this process a verbal question with a possible yes or no answer is stated to the body being tested. Once the question is asked the working indicator muscle is tested and its response monitored. A locked or strong muscle indicates a positive answer or yes to the question. A relaxed or weak muscle response indicates a negative or no to the question.
Both methods give results in response to the body’s Energy Control System monitoring the effect of the question, whether it is a verbal or non-verbal Touch Localising. The Energy Control System monitors all the body’s energy needs and the effects of any type of stimuli that enters into the bio-energy field of the individual. It then chooses whether or not to activate some kind of response to the stimuli and what that response should be. In the case of a muscle test that is accompanied by a verbal or non-verbal question, it will choose whether or not to activate the hypothalamus in the brain with the effect of changing the muscle response from locked to relaxed.
The natural state of the body’s bio-energy is one of balance, harmony and flow. The discovery of the 33 Template circuits gives us different criteria by which to assess the human bio-energy system. Through the use of Touch Localising, the Template circuits are tested to assess what state they are in prior to the ceremonies, which, except for the rare occurrence of connected water circuits in a few participants invariably shows a relaxed or weakened response. This indicates that the energy flow through that aspect of the body’s bio-energy system is not functioning correctly, as the test is asking for information about that circuit by touching the test point and the muscle response indicates a weakness. When the circuits are tested in the presence of the specific connecting geometry for that circuit they will test temporarily strong, indicating the geometry will change the weakened state of that circuit. When the geometry is removed, the circuit again tests weak.
The ceremonies perform a ‘programming’ type effect on the body, hard wiring in the information necessary to maintain the strength and completeness of each circuit that is reconnected as the body’s intelligence validates the statements of the ceremony code. This is demonstrated following the ceremony when each reconnected circuit is retested and shown to be strong without the balancing presence of the geometry.
The tool of muscle testing is invaluable to the Template ceremonies in this case, as it allows the physically demonstrable validation of the precepts of the Template model to be demonstrated with each individual, before and after the reconnection. People who have experienced muscle testing cannot explain the sudden change of their muscle response in any logical way. The basic knowledge of muscle testing and circuit monitoring gives us the understanding of why holding or viewing a geometric shape can make a difference to a point that, when tested on its own, weakens the indicator muscle, but in response to the geometry becomes strong and locked again.
The methods of testing discussed in this article are given as examples and should only be undertaken after training with an experienced teacher of kinesiology.

A phenomenon of the Template reconnection process is that if a ceremony participant has surrogated, with permission, for a family member or sexual partner, when the person who has been reconnected by proxy is muscle tested, the test shows that the circuits reconnected are now permanently strong. This is explained by the Template model as connecting through resonance via the DNA.
Demonstration of Kinesiology
At 1:03:19 on this video you can see a demonstration of kinesiology as it is used before and after Template ceremonies. This demonstration, with a person who had not yet done any ceremonies, shows the body's strengthened muscle response as various circuit test points are temporarily reconnected using representatives of the elements (a flame and both an Earth and non- Earth crystal, (Moldavite) in this demonstration), and /or specific items of sacred geometry, in this case the 5 Platonic solids, Water (icosahedron), Air (octahedron), Earth (cube), Fire (tetrahedron) and Ether (dodecahedron). After the Template ceremonies the strength of the reconnected circuits is permanent. We do not ask anyone to take our word for the re-connection which includes the whole Human system on every level, but test through the body response as the only fractal of the Human hologram on which we can easily demonstrate the tangible and immediate effects.
